5 Months Old!

On the 27th, Kylie turned 5 months old! I haven't blogged each month so I'm a little late. 5 months is a huge milestone for Kylie because there are so many changes going on!

Kylie got her first two bottom teeth this month (early teether!) and has tried solids: rice cereal- which she actually LOVES (Go figure!), bananas- which she HATES (hence the picture below), and sweet potatoes- she's not in love with them, but doesn't hate them either.

She's also found her foot:

AND she actually enjoys the exersaucer (sp?) which she didn't know what to do with before.

(Her lips are shiny...those aren't her teeth)

She's also rolling from front to back and from back to front and crawling...backwards.

She LOVES to take baths and she loves the camera.

That's our little Kylie. We are looking forward to watching her grow and continue hitting those milestones!

Happy Birthday Babe!

Today is my hubby's 29th birthday- he finally caught up to me! Yep, I'm the older one. Last week, Matt and Micah had a man-kend (man weekend). Matt spent the night at Micah's and Nicole spent the night at our house. Matt and Micah went and ate sushi, played video games, went shooting, played pool, and, of course, ate some more. Meanwhile Nicole, Kaitlyn, and I gave the little kiddos baths:

Today, Matt's family and mine came over for a mini surprise party. We had pizza, cake, cupcakes, and ice cream. It was a nice low-key gathering:

Going Backwards

Our little girl is moving.....BACKWARDS! It started a few days ago, but it's official now. I placed her on her tummy time mat like this:

Half hour later, without my assistance, she ended up like this:

Halfway under the bed! Pretty soon she'll be crawling!

Kylie's Dedication

Today we had a baby dedication at church. It was short, simple, and to the point. Matt and I made a commitment in front of our church family to try our absolute best to raise our precious Kylie in a way that pleases the Lord. Here are a few pics:

A Solid Eater

Last week, Kylie's pediatrician gave me the Go Ahead on feeding Kylie solids. I was a little relieved because Kylie nurses 9 times a day! Once she gets used to solids, she won't need to nurse AS much, though breastmilk will still be her primary source of food. Anyway, this was a fun milestone to record. She seemed to enjoy it and even took the spoon a few times! Even though a lot of it got on her clothes, she actually managed to eat a few spoonfulls. She even kept opening her mouth for more!

Happy Birthday Papi!

Today would've been my dad's 66th birthday. Tonight we will celebrate your birthday by going to Shakey's- your favorite pizza place. Happy Birthday Papi. We miss you.

This is how I remember my dad- happy, strong, and handsome!:)

Divine Intervention

It amazes me how often God will work in our lives and how we fail to see even the little things. I know He's with me everyday, but I fail to see all the goodness He brings. A few weeks ago, Kylie and I were getting ready to do some Christmas shopping and we were about to head out the door when I realized that my car keys weren't on the key hook. I quickly started to think about where they could possibly be when I realized Matt had the keys last. So I called him at work, and after he checked (several times) we realized he had them! He works in L.A. so I obviously couldn't get them from him. So much for shopping! I was a little frustrated, but not TOO upset. We don't go somewhere every day, but things change when you CAN'T go somewhere. I couldn't help but think that perhaps I wasn't meant to drive out in the rain and go shopping that day. Who knows what could have happened? God was protecting me. I know some may say that it was merely coincidence, but I don't believe it was. I need to be more thankful in His work in my life and be grateful even in the NOT SO GREAT circumstances. I'll leave you with a bible verse from the NLT:

"Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18

Chunky Monkey

I LOVE my little Chunky Monkey more and more each day. Matt and I can't get over how much we love our little one. I really didn't know what it was like to love a child until Kylie came along. Yesterday, mommy and Kylie took a trip to the doctor's and Kylie weighed in at 14 pounds, 8 ounces! I couldn't believe it! It's hard to capture pictures of her smiling...as soon as she sees the camera, she hides her smiles. She's starting to sit up better when propped up and a couple days ago she became a roly poly! I go to her room after her nap and she's given herself tummy time! Sooo cute!

I thought this was a funny picture. She reminds me of a cartoon character.
